Persons that claim to have served their country in a noble, brave, courageous fashion, performing the most dangerous duty in elite units, winning all sorts of medals, decorations and awards, being wounded repeatedly, etc.!

“a local man [Indiana] had won two Silver Starts in combat in Iraq.”
“An Oak Park [IL.] man named John Dietz was asked to lead the 4th of July parade this year on a Wednesday Journal newspaper account of repeatedly being wounded in combat [Vietnam]. (He also claimed to have played linebacker at the University of Michigan.)”
[Dietz is telling one big whopper!? Also claimed to have a brother that was killed in Vietnam.
NO SOLDIER NAMED DIETZ WAS EVER KILLED IN VIETNAM!! When this fact was presented to John, the reply was, “at that time,
we did not go by the name of Dietz!”]
And perhaps the
most egregious and villainous example of the military imposter/
poseur’/charlatan/prevaricator/hustler/scam artist is Jesse Macbeth:
