Militia.

This is coolbert:

"I ask, sir, what is the militia?"

"It is the whole people, except for a few public officials." - - George Mason.

The Supreme Court of the U.S. has decided, for the FIRST TIME SINCE 1939, to hear a Second Amendment case. This could be really big!

The issue before the court, as they say, is whether or not the right to "keep and bear" arms is a collective right or an individual right!

A COLLECTIVE right confined, as would be the case for ORGANIZED militia elements [National Guard and federal Reserve military units], OR an INDIVIDUAL right! Can the average citizen OWN and possess a firearm [but only generally carry when performing his militia duties!].

Those of you that have been following this blog for some time will remember that this subject can been previously been touched upon in some depth!

The comments of the late Chief Justice Warren Burger notwithstanding, the philosophies and beliefs of George Mason and Thomas Jefferson are to be preferred in the matter of the Second Amendment.

Will the Supreme Court see things the same way I do? Hard to say! This is always a hot-button topic on talk radio. NOW, for the first time since 1939, a definite resolution will be forthcoming? We shall see!
