This is coolbert: Michael Savage on his radio talk show this evening is talking extensively about this man who was arrested for planning to carry out "terrorist attacks" in the Rockford, Illinois area.

A man who is described as young, and a recent convert to Islam.

A disaffected young man who by his own description, in the court affidavit [Michael reads from the affidavit on the air], was outraged by the recent war between Hezbollah and Israel. Saw his role as being an avenger for Lebanese Islamic dead.

Was going to detonate hand grenades in a Rockford shopping mall, and then go on a shooting spree with a hand gun.

Described his plan to an undercover ATF [Alcohol-Tobacco-Firearms] agent. Tried to buy four hand grenades and a handgun from the same agent.

Had, by his own account done "surveillance" of Rockford and DeKalb [IL], synagogues, planning to attack worshipers, "with a steak knife if necessary".

Was going to "pay" for the hand grenades and hand gun with hi-fidelity speakers. [I bet he stole those speakers too!!]

This "young man" just sounds to me as being a totally goofy and emotional, but still highly dangerous individual. NOT a bit of sense, untrained, NOT knowing what he was doing, but still, nonetheless wanted to

Exemplifies a form of terrorism that COULD occur. The "lone wolf" attacker.

A person, trained, AND, acting on an individual basis, COULD, do significant damage. An individual motivated [by Islamic jihad theology], and possessing rudimentary training in expedient bomb making and detonation, or having an ability to use handguns, sniper rifle, or edged weaponry in close-quarters-combat, COULD create havoc in the U.S. Thousands of such trained persons would present an impossible situation for authorities. Persons trained and with an ability to:

* conduct surreptitious surveillance of targets.

* manufacture and detonate home-made explosives. [Mc Gyver style stuff.]

* use handguns or edged weaponry.

* use basic martial arts attacks to kill or injure vulnerable persons.

This could be a valid terrorist strategy. Persons COULD receive training at foreign training camps or EVEN in the U.S. and be told to "go back home" and strike when the "atmosphere is right and you are moved to do so!!"

This is very plausible. TERRORIST TRAINING CAMPS HAVE BEEN FOUND WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL U.S. SEVERAL YEARS AGO, A NATIONAL PARKS RANGER STUMBLED UPON A LATIN AMERICAN TERRORIST TRAINING CAMP IN DEATH VALLEY [CA]!!

This Derek seems to have absolutely NO training whatsoever. His plan was to place the hand grenades in trash cans at a shopping mall and allow them to detonate. HE DID NOT EVEN KNOW, ACCORDING TO THE AFFIDAVIT, HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE FOR THE GRENADE TO DETONATE!! [it takes five seconds from the time you release the handle till the grenade explodes. Derek was NOT even aware of this. He might have been blown up by the explosion himself, he was so stupid!!]

[years ago, in South Africa, the ANC equipped it's adherents to carry out attacks with hand grenades in a similar fashion as to what Derek desired to do. Unbeknownst to the attackers, someone had "messed" with the grenades to be used and replaced the ordinary fuses with INSTANTANEOUS FUSES. Once the handle of the grenade was released, the grenades exploded immediately and killed the thrower [the ANC fighter]!!!]

Training thousands of jihadis to conduct "lone wolf" terrorist style attacks on the U.S. is a valid concept. Let us hope the jihadi leaders such as Osama and Zawahiri do not decide to adopt this approach.
