Advantage?

This is coolbert:

From comments to my blog:

"A twenty year field exercise in Iraq and Afghanistan will be a disaster."

"If we do not secure our borders, we can send millions of men overseas and destroy our economy and the result will be the same."

Well, these comments are all very valid. And no one hopes that we will be in Iraq or Afghanistan for much longer. This current President is hamstrung with his own policy. It will be up to the next President to find a resolution, one way or the other.

At the end of World War Two [WW2], the U.S. had a much more advantageous position vis-a-vis the rest of world compared to the current situation.

* The U.S. was the only combatative nation that emerged from that conflict "that had more steel than it could use, more oil than it could burn, and more food than it could eat".

* And was the sole possessor of the atomic bomb.

* Had an enormous edge over our only closest rival, the Soviet Union. That forty five year "cold war" started out with the U.S. having many pluses on it's side.

The U.S. currently DOES NOT have those overwhelming advantages vis-a-vis the rest of the world. If this current anti-jihadi war is going to be fought to a successful conclusion with the U.S. triumphant, we are going to have to fight much smarter and harder and be selective in way we did not have to be in the immediate years subsequent to the end of WW2.

The words resourceful, resilient, flexible, responsive, cagey, shrewd immediately come to mind.

Off the top of my head, I can think of three major drawbacks the U.S. will face in the "long haul" with regard to the anti-jihadi war.

* An unhealthy dependency on foreign oil. This is an obvious. Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Nigeria. We have to DEPEND on THEM!!??

* The U.S. is the largest debtor nation on the planet! Has to also depend on a hostile [China?] nation to support our currency on the international market?!

* Threat of the use of atomic weapons on U.S. cities without a suitable deterrent being feasible.

[the jihadi does not fear in kind retaliation to atomic attack. The jihadi welcomes retaliation to further alienate the ummah [Islamic nation] world-wide!]

"Smarter than them . . . quicker, more clever, more efficient than them" - - Rehavam Zee'vi??

YES!! All of that! And then some!

Does depending on them mean we have to support them or let them subvert us?

I hope we have learned a lesson in Iraq. If everything had gone right (and that was never in the cards)rivers of petroleum would be heading to us in tankers. Chavez is a jerk, but invading Venezuela would be no "slam dunk."

The flip side of this is that China is as much our prisoner as we are theirs. If they decided to dump the dollar, and it immediately went to $100,000 to an ounce of gold China would lose big time. This is not to say I think our borrowing is all that bright.

The American people have been taking precautions for a jihadi bomb in a major city without even knowing it. Our continued moving to suburbia, then exurbia to avoid inner city violence would limit population damage to those who perpetrate such violence and those who do not possess the resources to escape it. A jihadi nuke would do a lot of damage but is only to be expected if we do not fix the immigration problem.

Sounds good, easier said than done. What came after Julius was not another Julius, but eventually a Varus leading some of the best trained infantry ever to slaughter. So the legacy of Dayan was, unintentionally, Sharon leading Israel into the disaster of Lebanon.

Considering there is a war on, gas is still pretty cheap. I had always thought that a conflict in the ME would give us $8.00 a gallon gas. That has not happened because of other oil sources. We need oil, but the countries that have it need to sell it. It is often their only means of revenue. How many Venezuelan or Nigerian products do you have around the house?
China also needs to sell to us. If we stop buying Chinese goods, they are in deep trouble. No other nation can absorb their output the way the US can. But I agree with comment that all this borrowing isn't so smart.

A simple plan below to win the jihadi war. It is harsh but then we want to win and keep NY or LA from being a smoking radioactive right, right?

1. End illegal and most legal immigration, especially muslims. Start deporting those here. We do not need a 5th column in this country (although they are probably here already).
2. Drill for oil in the US off the coasts, there is tons out there, Alaska too.
3. Crash Nuke power plant construction program. It is the future. If the French and Finns can do it, so can we.
4. Mine more coal. The US is the Mideast of coal.
5. Install a strongman in Iraq. Give him free reign to stabilize the place. he will be beholden to our interests.
6. Render Iran a smoking ruin, and repeat with Syria, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan or whenever necessary. These nations have no fear of us. Before Assad and Ahmad Jihad of Iran even get up to take a leak, they should first think how the US might react and sweat a little. We could encourage good behavior by sending them the Saddam hanging video on DVD.

What many in the West don't realize is that these people will die to kill you. They will never stop. They will cut your throat like a sheep's. They will use their kids to carry bombs and as lookouts and carry ammo in ambulances. They will lie if asked about the true nature of islam, then go back to the mosque and exhort their followers to kill infidels. I've seen it and heard it. They openly speak of a 2nd holocaust and praise Nazi atrocities.
If this sound harsh, it is. We are kidding ourselves if we think we can win on the cheap or play nice by building schools and handing out candy. These people do not take prisoners except to kill them and then put it on the internet. The sooner we realize what we are up against, the sooner we can take the appropriate steps to win.
