Baggage.

All the news today concerns the plot to blow aircraft traveling from England to America out of the sky with suicide bombers.

A plot foiled by British counter-terrorism/counter-intelligence. A foiled plot for which the British are to be given the highest marks and kudos.

This is superlative work on the part of our allies in this war. The type of operation that is needed in the war against the jihadi.

From the brief descriptions given by certain officials on TV this evening, the plot to destroy U.S. bound aircraft was just weeks, if less than that, away from being brought to fruition. An attack that had the goal of inflicting death of a magnitude as seen on 9/11.

An attack on the "grand scale". A hallmark of Al Qaeda.

The timing of the British Secret Services was absolutely impeccable. This cabal of "second-generation" "home-grown" terrorists who were of Pakistani origin was evidently followed and observed for some time. An effort to uncover the entire terrorist "ring" and network.

A counter-terrorist/counter-intelligence operation reminiscent what occurred in Britain during World War Two. The XX Committee run by such luminaries in the field as Masterman. Evidently England still possesses persons of the caliber needed to successfully fight the jihadi enemy and WIN!!

BRAVO!!!

What still disturbs me a lot is the quantity of carry-on baggage allowed on passenger aircraft.

Seeing the scenes of long lines of folks at U.S. airports waiting to go through the security checks is troublesome. Persons awaiting to board flights just loaded down with carry-on bags, all requiring inspection.

This should have all ended with 9/11.

I have said this before. THERE SHOULD BE NO CARRY-ON BAGGAGE ALLOWED AT ALL!! NADA, ZILCH, ZERO!!! PERIOD!! CHECK IN ALL BAGS AT THE TICKET DESK. HAVE YOUR BAGS CARRIED IN THE CARGO HOLD OF THE PLANE, AND THAT IS THAT. YOU DON'T NEED ALL THAT STUFF ON AN AIRLINE FLIGHT ANYHOW. IF YOU REQUIRE WATER, SOFT DRINK, COFFEE, ETC., IT WILL BE PROVIDED FOR YOU. YOU DON'T NEED CELL-PHONES, I-PODS, VIDEO GAMES, ETC. DO WITHOUT WHAT YOU THINK IS NECESSARY FOR JUST A FEW HOURS, AND THAT IS THAT!! IF YOU CANNOT, THEN DON'T FLY!! STOP, FULL STOP, GET IT!!!??? THOSE OVERHEAD COMPARTMENTS ANYHOW ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FOR COATS, HATS, PILLOWS, BLANKETS, AND OTHER SOFT STUFF AND THAT IS THAT!! NOT YOUR BAGS THAT WEIGH A TON!! IF YOU WANT TO CUT OR FILE YOUR FINGERNAILS, OR CUT OUT PAPERDOLLS WITH SCISSORS FOR ENJOYMENT, FORGET ABOUT IT AND WAIT UNTIL YOU GET TO YOUR DESTINATION.

In this war against terrorism, for decades into the future, WE WILL ALL HAVE TO BE MAKE SACRIFICES AND MAKE ACCOMMODATIONS.
